When presented with the idea of a Minecraft birthday party I was a little overwhelmed, truth be told, and when I looked at Minecraft I was a little unimpressed, to say the least. I don’t really “get it”.
While the appeal of the game may escape me, the building aspect enthrals my boy. This kid thrives on science, math and building, he has his Dads 'engineer' brain!

So a Minecraft birthday party it was for my little boy who was turning 9.
Birthday parties, celebrations and hosting are my true love, however, with everything going on at the moment, I really needed to keep it simple and achievable .
I invited Philosophers friends around for dinner and a movie
"Drop your kids off at 5"
"Pick them up at 8"
17 of them

I themed his party in Minecraft colours of green and black and kept everything simple
Little Sausages, Chips n Dip, Lollies, Old Fashioned Lemonade and Home Made Burgers.

And the _AMAZING_ cake . . .
A gift to Philosopher from one of the teachers at school !! !! !!
No mess, no fuss, simply a great Minecraft party which had just the right amount of themed items which impressed the kids yet didn't stress me out while making it.
The kids played outside, came inside to eat, watched a movie, opened presents, ate cake, watched more of the movie and left.
For some - it was past their bedtime, so curling up on the floor under a Minecraft Quilt was the best option.

It was simply one of the easiest parties I’ve done yet. Fun, exciting and easy to do.

3 hours and 17 kids?? Oh my word you are a total legend. I usually have about 5 for 1.5hours and I am tuckered out after that! :o) My boy is into minecraft too and like you I don't get it at all xx :o) xx
Fantastic! How fabulous to get the cake made, one less thing for you to do. I found with my kids parties, less was ALWAYS more!
P.S I am glad I am not the only one who doesn't get the Minecraft thing :-)
I'm totally with Miriam on this! 17 kids = WOW! yay for you mama, celebrating a special guy in a way that doesn't push you over the edge - and that cake? AMAZE!
Oooh I am drinking that cider too. i love it. And I love minecraft. My kids hassled me to get into playing games with them on the xbox and I just hate most of them. But I have my own minecraft world!!! Haven't done it for ages though as it does waste heaps of time!!! :)
