Quilts Bring Comfort

I remember when I was making Quilts for Christchurch
I had a blog post titled Quilts Bring Comfort
Yesterday I experienced first hand the comfort joy and love the gift of a quilt can bring

3 weeks ago Deb did a blog about the second quilt she ever made

I have followed and commented on the journey of remaking this quilt through Instagram
My first comment was "I think I'm in love"

Little did I know that the quilt was intended for me . . . .

As I read the kind words the understanding words Deb had written in the card
Tears fell down my cheeks

I remember 03rd September 2010 like it was yesterday
I often grieve in silence
My big boy started school that week
Next week my baby girl starts school

Triggers don't always happen on anniversaries

I snuggled into bed last night comforted with Debs words and kindess surrounding my new quilt
When I awoke in the wee small hours (as has been so often of late) with the wetness of the tears on my cheeks the scent of the recently washed quilt brought me comfort and reminded me how kindness really is so important

Thank you so much Deb
xxx I love you xxx

What a wonderful gift - both the quilt and the comfort in the words and the heart behind it all. Love it.

I know too well the bittersweet of them heading off to school. x
